Back in the day...I guess it was 1990.  I was watching Ralph Emery's show on CMT (which at that time was a country music station.)  Ralph introduced this little ball of fire and I realized this was Carl and June's daughter. "I Fell in Love" was the song she was singing. I though, man, this girl rocks.  So, as I usually do in the rare case someone's music interest me, I did some research, I got all the LP's I could locate and educated myself on the music and life of Carlene Carter.  I saw several of her live shows in different parts of the country.

I find Carlene's writing very good to my ears and my emotions. She writes mostly from experience. Her creative word play in her music is really good. While researching her music I discovered a rare gem of a song on one of her albums. The song "Too Proud"  (This video takes awhile to load, but it is worth it)( if you just want to hear the song click THIS) got my attention easily and the lyrics are some of the best I have ever heard in a song.  My only objection to this track is the guitar (which I like a lot) over powers her vocals making it difficult to understand her lyrics. I discussed this with her and it was a funny conversation as only CC can do it.

I just want to add the new photo's  by Russell Baer of Carlene in a recent photo shoot..
ROCK ON CARTER GIRL!
I am "Too Proud" of you.

You just don't have one."

Savior of my Natural Soul   [hearing Carlene and Anita sing together is a beautiful sound] (with "The Carter Family" Helen, June, Anita and Carlene; now this is harmony) Note: This song was the last song played at my mother's funeral May 28th, 2011 because she LOVED her Country Music and she loved her Jesus. Thanks CC and the Carter girls for making her leaving a tad more bearable.

One of my favorite songs by Carlene's daddy is "I over looked an orchid"   I heard though Brad who runs Carlene's fan club. That she is going to do a tribute album to her dad; who I always loved. I hope she includes this song by the great Carl Smith; I think he was  awesome.

I do hope you know how blessed you are CC! I truly respect your strength. Keep on keeping on!!
